Consolidated Kaolin
The micrograph [below] shows effect of image analysis on a sample of consolidated kaolin.
The analysis is automatic and delineates regions of similar orientation.
The procedures used are as follows:-
The intensity gradient of the original image was computed at each
pixel.
A special clustering algorithm was used to define domains of similar
orientation.
The original image was combined with the domain image to generate the
coloured image.
- Red: vertical domains
- Green: domains inclined from bottom left to top right
- Blue: horizontal domains
- Yellow: domains inclined from top left to bottom right
- Turquoise: random area
The index of aniotropy of this image is computed as 0.276 at an orientation
of 168 degrees clockwise from the upward vertical
