Introduction

The "11th International Working Meeting on Soil Micromorphology" of the Subcommission B of the ISSS, planned for August 2000, had to be cancelled because a minimum number of participants, required to make the organisation financially feasible, was not reached.

To give scientists working in micromorphology the opportunity to meet, and to give micropedology a new elan, an alternative but more modest meeting will be organised in Ghent by the International Training Centre for Post-Graduate Soil Scientists (ITC), from the 9th to the 13th of July 2001.
